Big Brother

Today when I dropped Leah off at school her teacher asks me, "Does Leah have a big brother Jonathan?"

Hahahahhahaha! Made my day!

Gymcats

Leah got her first gymnastics ribbon!

She did a seat drop on the trampoline (jump, jump, sit, stand)! She's actually been able to do this for a few weeks on her bed (yeah, the best trampoline out there that won't increase your home insurance), but finally did it consistently in class. We are so proud!

What She Said

Leah, trying to get Brian's attention: "Micah. Micah. MICAH. MICAHHHHH!"

What She Said

What she said: "There's a bead in my polka dot!"
What she meant: "There's a seed in my apricot!"

What she said: "I need to put on my suitcase."
What she meant: "I need to put on my swimsuit."

Ice Cream

Today was such a wonderful day! It's nice to have weekends in and weekends out, weekends busy and weekends with nothing. But if I had a choice of a weekend day to have over and over, a day like this would be it.

This morning we went to gymnastics, which is a typical Saturday morning for us, and Leah just loves it. The smile on her face when she finally gets to go on the bars or trampoline or foam block pit after a week (or two, with our travel schedule) is the best thing ever.

After gymnastics, we headed over to Springs Preserve for their annual Ice Cream Festival! Since ice cream is a staple in our house, this was obviously going to be fun! It was really nice outside and I forget how beautiful Springs Preserve really is.

Different flavors in each tent- and this is only one area!

Elsa was there to read stories. I was so surprised when Leah kept asking to go back and see Elsa to say hi and take a picture. Then of course when we took the picture, Leah wanted nothing to do with her.

First root beer float!

What would an ice cream festival be without ice cream sundaes?!

There were also lots of fun carnival games.

Leah totally showed up Brian in skee ball and made it into the top hole!

Didn't make it to the butterfly habitat, but these big ones were cool enough!

Of course, Leah fell asleep in the car on the way home. She actually made it out of the car without waking up, but didn't quite make it to her bed. A ten minute nap in the car was all we were going to get, so we eventually headed to the park to play with Zyler and his family. No pictures, but other than some scraped knees and tears over sharing a car, we had a blast. Leah also demonstrated she has mad soccer skills. Who knew?!

We joined Zyler and his parents for dinner, but Leah didn't exactly make it. After a few carrots, Leah laid down on the booth seat and, since she was being pretty calm and not playing around, I let her. Five minutes later, SHE WAS SLEEPING. I am still looking at the pictures in disbelief that she did that! Not even French fries could get her up. Girl definitely needed it- she made it out of the car, got a diaper, and into her bed without waking up this time... And dinner was quite nice 😉

We were home, fed, and Leah was sleeping so early that Brian and I actually got to watch a movie together. A little impromptu date night in was just what we needed to cap off a great day.

Add to all of the above some invites for Memorial Day weekend, and today was a nice reminder that all is good 😊

ROCK CHALK!

After I picked Leah up from school today we went to the KU alumni bar for the first time. It was a big game tonight and Brian was working late, but I had really been wanting to go and they were selling t-shirts, so I brought along my good luck charm.

Everyone was super friendly. We sat with a dad, his five year old daughter, and his sister and brother-in-law. I hope we see them again (Saturday?). Leah had fun coloring with Sophie and yelling "Jayhawk!" every time someone walked in with a Jayhawk on their shirt/hat (so every time someone walked in).

She was such a trooper and watched a lot of the first half with me before Brian came to get her, even though it was pretty late. Apparently I have taught her well because when it came time for Brian to put her in bed she told him, "No go bed! Go Jayhawk!"

That's my girl ❤️💙

(He let her stay up... That's my guy 💙❤️)

ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK! GO KU!

Braid

Ever since I heard our baby was a girl I have been excited to play with her hair.

And I was a blessed with a baldy.

I waited TWENTY ONE MONTHS for hair and then, curls! Whaaaaaat?!? I love them- they are so Leah- but I really need Sara to come live with me so I can figure out what on earth to do with them.

Anyways, Leah's hair is finally getting a bit longer and this morning she actually sat still enough for me to play a bit.

First braid ever! My best being-a-mom-of-a-little-girl moment yet!
