Two Years

If anyone had told me 26 months ago that life would have changed this much- had this many ups and downs- in mine and Brian's first two years of marriage, I would have probably laughed... but they wouldn't have been wrong.

In two years we argued about getting a dog, got a dog, had ourselves and our house destroyed by our dog, and fell in love with our dog.  Today, we caught Johnny laying down in the office (no baby gate blocking it off).  It was filled with paper, books, bubble wrap, boxes, etc. and he was just sleeping- I even had to make sure he was breathing  because I didn't believe all that stuff would go untouched!  Last night, 40 people were over to celebrate Brian, and other than helping himself to some carrots off the veggie platter late in the night, Johnny was a rock star!  He got compliments all night long.  No one would have thought this possible a year ago!

In two years Brian has had two jobs, and gotten laid off from both of them.  For as many tears, fears, and uncertainties these moments caused, there have been as many incredible opportunities as a result of them as well.  The first time?  Brian jumped at the opportunity to go back to ASU and finish his degree (more about that later).  The second time?  Brian took advantage of the opportunity to interview with companies he was truly excited about... and it's taking us to Las Vegas!

Two years ago I unpacked wedding gifts, struggling to make this house a home that both of us would love.  Today, I packed whole rooms, packed memories that we'll just have to take with us as we start again in Las Vegas.

In two years I went from begging Brian for a baby, to seriously talking about having a baby, to hiding from everyone that we really are having a baby, to sharing the news about having a baby with our family and friends.  It's an exciting time, and Obi will be here before we know it (21.5 weeks to go- almost half way there)!

In two years, Brian went from an estimator to a project engineer to a full time student.  He worked his butt off and kicked ASU and the CIM program square in the ass.  I know he didn't love his graduation ceremony this past Thursday, but it meant the world to me- and pretty much summed up the past two years.  It was a long ceremony and had it's ups and downs- good quotes from good speakers and ridiculousness from others.  And there, at the very end (literally, we're talking student 1096 out of 1100- how's that for having an "A" last name?!), Brian stood tall and proud and showed off his recently obtained diploma and gave us the fork'em sign.  We waited and waited... and he did it.

Pictures from this weekend to come... back to packing!
