Today is the Last Day

Today I am married to a 20-something year old.

Today we didn't do anything extraordinary or special, but it was a good day. Brian was home early enough to play with Leah while I made dinner and then we ate together- from start to finish! Leah babbled "dada" the whole time and Brian's smile never left his face. He loves that girl, and she loves him. Meanwhile, my beautiful fresh flowers were staring us in the face. Love it! Brian sure knows how to spend the $20 he found on the ground.
Leah went to sleep and Brian took Johnny for a walk; I fell asleep on the couch. Diamondbacks won, but that was about as extraordinary as our evening got. Now, Brian is snoring his way into the next decade of his life and I'm bursting with giddiness that tomorrow is such a big day!

Today is Brian's last day in his twenties. It was a good day- a good year, 29- and we're both excited to see what 30 will bring!

Daddy Daughter Night

Once a month I head out for a book club meeting and Brian and Leah get to spend the evening together. I'm sure they have lots of fun together (and it will only get crazier as Leah gets older!), and I know Brian enjoys spending time with her since weekday time is always so limited!

Think she's smiling at me? Guess again... Daddy is right behind the camera!

Father's Day

Armed and ready to wish Daddy a happy Father's Day. ONLY wearing this shirt to celebrate Brian Day Three/ Father's Day.

Father's Day gifts and cards!

Wishing Grandpop happy Father's Day, and trying to stand! (Sorry for the goofy picture, Daddy.)

Good food, good friends, and good fun in the sun!

Father's Day is exhausting!

Happy Father's Day to all the great Daddies we know.

To my Daddy, thanks for always being there; I love you!

To Micah, thanks for helping in the yard and for teaching Leah to fly!

To Brian, I couldn't do it without you. We need you, and we love you.

Eight

Eight months old. Holy heck that last month went fast!

Leah, you are growing so much every day! In fact, some of your headbands don't even fit you anymore.

You're going from sitting to your tummy, and every once in a while you go up on all fours. You're mobile, although not quite moving forward or fast. If you want something, you will find a way to get it. You even tried pulling up to stand once, in the bathtub!

Of course I waited long enough to take a picture before pulling you down!

And you just love your food. You prefer solids to purée but you'll eat them occasionally. I think cantaloupe and cucumber are your favorites.

I love you, Sweet Girl, and all you are learning and who you are becoming.

Celebrate Brian, Day Two

This morning started with a delicious Pinterest-style breakfast and Leah's first shower before we headed to Mt. Charleston for a summer hike.

The weather in the mountains was an unbelievably awesome 65ish degrees... Like when I first got out of the car I was worried my tank top wouldn't cut it, but we got a few more degrees and started walking, then it was perfect! The scenery was beautiful and "if we aren't already going camping next weekend" for Brian's birthday surprise, then we will head back up and "go camping the weekend after." Those are direct quotes. Maybe it will actually happen!

After a quiet afternoon, we enjoyed dinner and dessert with our Chavurah. Can't wait for Father's Day surprises tomorrow!

B is for Brian

Brianpalooza? Brianakkuh? The Ten Days of Brian? Whatever we call these next ten days, it's all about Brian. When you are celebrating your first Father's Day and 30th birthday within four days of each other, why not?!?

Day One: movie, popcorn, and cuddling on the cuddler.

Uhh, who is cuddling with whom??

Anyways, this was a fail. I was asleep within the first half hour of the movie... But, Brian got his popcorn and I hope he enjoyed his night with no work computer!

Love and Flowers

He loves me. The feeling is mutual <3

Better with Friends

Last weekend was pretty much the best girls' weekend ever. Early Saturday morning I headed to Phoenix to spend the weekend with Megan and Kristin and it was perfect.

The weekend was filled with lots of girl talk, walks downtown, close calls (almost missed flights and almost lost phones are SO not me!), people watching, and #glutenandcheese. Not only did we spy on a rooftop wedding from our hotel window, it was Comic-Con. This requires no further explanation. I mean, Captain Hook was staying down the hall.

I enjoyed the time I took for me (can you say spa pedi?), and really really enjoyed the time with my friends. I miss those two girls SO MUCH. I can't believe it's been seven years since we met- we have changed and grown so much since then. We live in different cities and are all in different places in our lives, but it's like we never spent a day apart! Next year in Vegas?

Gotcha

Johnny's Gotcha Day. Can't believe it's been three years with this crazy guy.
